Goodblog

I’ve added a new category to the blogroll at the right. The “Under Surveillance” category is going to be where I put new blogs that I’ve discovered until such time that I decide to keep them. If I decide again’ it, they’ll discretely disappear, never to be heard from again. If they stay, I’ll move them up to a ”real” category, above, and put a few notes up about why everyone ought to read my newfound blog.

[Pseudo-Polymath](http://pseudopolymath.blogspot.com/), was a quick decision. I have no idea what Pseudo-Polymath means, but the tagline is “Christianity, Ethics, Bike Racing, and current events from right of center.” I’m pretty sure it’s the ‘Christianity’ that I’m going to focus on. At least, He’s going under the “Religion” category.

Mark Olson, whose blog it is, is a good thinker, a good writer, and has a **lot** of interesting things to talk about. Here are a few of them:

* He’s prompted a pretty good discussion on why there are divisions in the church, sort of a “95 theses on the wall” prompt. The original post is [here]( http://pseudopolymath.blogspot.com/2005/02/needed-defense-of-our-division.html) and he’s done a summary of the discussion [here]( http://pseudopolymath.blogspot.com/2005/02/defense-of-divisions-update.html)

* He seems to have a kind of “challenge” series where he picks on a set of beliefs that differ from his and challenges people who hold those beliefs to a discussion. They exchange suggested readings, then exchange arguments. Looks interesting. Haven’t read them yet.

* Visiting series. Mark visits a blog and tells you about it. Sort of like I’m doing now. Only I’m not sure what the criteria are yet.

Anyway, goodblog. You should read up on him.

  1. Polymath is a 68 cent word for a “person having great learning in several fields”. I’m not a “real” polymath, I just pretend to be one on the net, hence the pseudo prefix, sort of honesty in advertising. 🙂 It was meant to be a little self-deprecating, but still give me an excuse to use polysyllabic words in my essays.

I thank you kindly for the glowing review and blogrolling me!
