I’ve been doing some thinking recently, and I’ve come to the conclusion that I really enjoy web design. It’s become a mildly obsessive hobby of mine. Valerie says I’m actually pretty good at it (though she says my sense of what actually looks good could use some work). I think, for the most part, **this** site is as “designed” as it’s going to get for the time being, but the bug to tweak things is still on me. I’ve *heard* that you can actually make good money doing this, but I’m still amateurish at it.
So, in an effort to up my skills, I’m going to put an offer out there and see who bites: I will do your web site for free.
Here are the rules:
- It’s the web *design* that’s free
- There are two other fees involved in having a web site: the domain name (http://www.yoursite.org), which runs about $12.00/year, and the hosting where you actually store the files for the site, which can be as little as $4 a month, and as high as you’re willing to pay, depending on how much space you need, and how much bandwidth (determined by how many people visit your site). I can help you find these things, but they’re fixed costs, and I can’t pay them for you.
- No time guarantees
- I am an amateur. That means this is my hobby. Other things could trump my hobby at any time. There may also be a delay if I’m working on another site first.
- It’s your site
- web design isn’t some mystical process that can only happen en conclave. I will make sure that you have complete access and control over your site at all times. If you want to fiddle with it while I’m setting it up, I have no problem. If you get impatient with the “no time guarantees” rule, you should be able to take over without any problems.
I think that about covers it. If you’re interested in my help, send an email to psallo at neumatikos.org, or post a comment below. π
UPDATE: Even before I get started, I’m helping somebody out: Nathan at [HelioCourier.net](http://www.heliocourier.net) has asked me to help him upgrade his site to something a little more interactive. So, to all you would-be takers: it appears there will be a line.
Hmmm…..

I can’t remember –what wise & far-sighted person was it that long ago recommended to do study in computers?

“computer study” sounds more like programming, not “web design”
I’m biting, by the way.

Also, the supply for those who have “study in computers” is higher than the demand π
