Getting Closer and Closer

We have only two months left to go until the wedding and I am very busy.

We’re going to have a houseful this weekend because I’m having my Knoxville bridal shower this weekend. My MOH, Jeanna, and one of my bridesmaids, Julie, will be coming into town and staying at the house in my “spacious” bedroom (in case you were wondering, my bedroom consists of the front living room…it can be quite annoying when the night owls in the house, dad and the boys, come up the stairs late and decided to raid the fridge, which means that they turn on lights and make way to much noise for my being able to sleep while they putter around). Anyway, the younger girls and I will be going to Panera for brunch and then to the shower, which will be held in my mom’s living room (i.e. my bedroom…which means that I have to clean up some).

Since it’s a long weekend, Kyle is also planning on coming to visit and help dad and the boys in the backyard. Dad’s renting a chipper and a log spitter to get rid to the overgrown mess of a brushpile back there. You might wonder where he will be sleeping….he and Alex have to duke it out and the loser sleeps on the back porch. Actaully, it’s nice and warm outside and I wouldn’t mind sleeping out there myself, and the couch out there is very comfortable.

Kyle and I are planning on taking a jaunt over to The Lost Sea, which is listed in the Guinness Book of World Records as the largest underground lake. I’m looking forward to going because I haven’t been in a long time and never without a large group. It should be a fun holiday.

As far as wedding stuff goes, in case you’re interested, I’ve been extremely busy. I’m starting to get settled and have started back in on working with things like programs, gift buying, and getting all those invitations out. I’m in the process of setting up a meeting with my coordinator, Tisha, and then hopefully things will go even smoother and faster. Thankfully the only thing that is immediately looming is the shower this Saturday.

My work on fixing up mom and dad’s house is going well so far. I’ve finished painting the entire kitchen, including the table, and all that I have to do in there now is paint the dry goods hutch and some finishing touches to the counter and the table once I put the leaves back where they go. My project for this coming week before the guests arrive is to finish the guest/kid’s bathroom. I prodded my brothers and dad to put down a new piece of linoleum and tomorrow I start in with the grout. After edging the things I need to with the grout I will be spackling the rough spots on the wall and taping everything. I will be painting the walls, door, cabinets, doorframe and baseboards. I don’t think it will take me as long as the kitchen did because it’s a smaller space and I can use a roller on the walls. I’m going to use the same colors that I used in the kitchen to brighten up the bathroom and make it look nicer. Mom and I went shopping for new hardware, rugs, and shower curtains as well. I’m hoping to be able to go get some new nobs for the cabinets as well, but they might have to wait until after guests leave. I’m not sure what my next project will be after I finish the bathroom, but there’s no lack of need here. I’ll probably be helping dad in the garage and getting it cleaned and serviceable for storing things decently.

I’ve been reading a lot since I’ve been home and have almost finished reading a third Austen book. I’ve read Northanger Abbey, Persuasion, and and almost done with Sense and Sensibility. I love Jane Austen’s writing style and her stories are fabulous. I was pleased as punch to get the reader’s collection set for my birthday this past January. At least reading and home improvement projects are keeping my mind off of my three applications that are still out. I do hope that we hear soon from Drexel and Boston University as well as Gordon Conwell. I would really like to konw where we are going to be living.

Well, I think that’s all I’ve got to say for the moment and from the looks of it, it was quite a bit. Hope you all have a blessed day.
