Happy Boxing Day!

I’ve actually already ‘boxed up’ a lot of my clothing that doesn’t fit anymore and given it away, but I will have a few more things to take over the the Give and Take at Gordon-Conwell when we get back to MA.

We finally made it to OK after a very, very long day. I had my last exam on Wednesday evening (6-8pm) and our flight was supposed to leave the Manchester, NH airport at 5:30am with a request that passengers be there and hour and a half early, so 4:00am. KB and I had decided not to really do much actual sleepin that night, so I took a nap and he woke me up at 1:00am to help with the last couple of details before we left the house to drive to the airport (Manchester is an hour and a half drive). We made it to the airport on time and ate a snack at McD’s while we waited for the security gate to open for the day. Everything was going as scheduled and then it all broke down, litterally. Our plane had some maintenace issues and they tried to fix it so we could still make our flights to Cinncinatti. They didn’t get the plane fixed in the allotted time and our flight was canceled. We did make it onto a plane that was headed to Atlanta, but our luggage, saddly, did not. So there we were, leaving the airport 2 1/2 hours after our original flight without our luggage and a layover of 3 1/2 hours or so in Atlanta. I was not a happy camper, KB had the beginnings of a nasty cold and no sleep. It was a very long day, but we finally touched down in OKC airport to be picked up by mom and the foster kids. Our luggage was followning us about an hour behind (actually closer to two hours) so we decided to go eat some supper and wait for it. After finally picking up our luggage we were ready to drive to Tulsa. The first thing I did when we got to the house was take a nice hot shower because I felt so yucky from traveling and then went to sleep.

Christmas was fun but hectic as usual. It was a different experience being with in-laws for the first time in my life during a holiday, but I brought a little bit of home with me in the way of baking pumkin pie complete with the Walker-side pie crust and my great grandma Morgan’s sugar plum cupcakes. I plan to make my Gma E’s chex mix tomorrow when KB’s Grammy and Grandad are coming to visit from Lee’s Summit, MO (right outside of Kansas City). There are also plenty of babies to hand around and I’ve already played sitter while letting things cook.

We’re planning on going to see King Kong and shopping today; I didn’t pack for a full week on some items of clothes because I didn’t know what we would be getting for Christmas. Now I need to go purchase some new shirts with Christmas money so I have enough for the entire visit.

I hope everyone is having a wonderful Christmas with family and friends. I have some pictures of Christmas decorations and the light display at Rhema Church. I don’t know if I’ll be putting them up while I’m here or if I’ll wait and put them all up when we get home so I can take them off the camera at the same time.

Have a blessed day.
