Life is Nuts and I Still Have to Pack

This month has been zipping by me. I’m in a summer class that basically squished a what is typically a full semester class into half the time. I’ve been able to keep up but it’s really reading and work intensive. I have four classes left for the summer semester, one of which I will be missing because I have my orientation meeting for my internship during the same time as the class. The class I’m working on is MC810, which is the Community Needs Assessment course. I’m looking into drug and alcohol use among teens in Gloucester for my course and think that I will continue with it when I start my internship.

The internship is set up in a project format so it’s not just getting a summer job. I have to turn in learning objectives, a midpoint review, a final review and present a poster on my topic. Since I’m doing my internship at the Gloucester Health Office, who have a vested interest in their youth, I’m going to use the information that I gathered for my class and use it to try and help reduce the rates of alcohol and drug use among the teens in Gloucester. I’m hoping to partner with the Healthy Gloucester Collaborative, who work specifically with drug and alcohol use and abuse among teenagers in Gloucester, for my project. I’m hoping things will slow down a bit when I start my internship.

By the way, have I mentioned yet that we’re moving July 1st? Yep, the Lord has provided us a new apartment in downtown Gloucester which is much bigger than our current place for the same cost. It’s right off of Main Street and walking distance to the rail station (so Kyle won’t have to drop me off and pick me up every day). I’m really excited about the move even though it’s going to come of the heels of a busy class and start for my internship. I’ve put some pictures up in the gallery.

Speaking of pictures….I finally finished editing and uploading all the pictures to date (whew!). So go poke around and take a look.

I think that’s all I have time for right now, except to ask you all to pray for us as we work on classes (we both have papers to write still) and moving. Also, Kyle is giving his first sermon this Sunday and he’s a bit nervous.

Peace and Blessings.

  1. I was looking at your pictures of your new apartment…..I think you may have taken minimialist decorating a tad too far.

  2. What? You don’t like the “clean but still needs a fresh coat of paint” look?

I’m also going to put up a floor plan as soon as I convert it to graph paper instead of freehand….
