I blame my parents. They moved to California so my dad could go to school and I understand they picked up all kinds of foreign ways there.

I didn’t grow up there, but I blame my dad for making fun of me when I would start to get the local ‘twang’…that and the fact that my parents didn’t have accents due to moving around a lot when they grew up:

I guess all of us are from “nowhere” — either that or the test is flawed.
Actually there were places where “none of the above” would have been an appropriate response. For example: marry & Mary sound alike but merry has a slightly different inflection on the vowel and while Don & Dawn sound alike neither rhyme with on but those weren’t offered as possibilities.

I tested as Inland North the first time, but had to reevaluate my answers to tilt the results to Midland, in order to confirm your claim that it’s partly my fault that you have “no accent”. Obviously I’ll do what it take’s to validate my offspring!

I dunno, I think that inland north is just canceling out the okie, to result in a lack of accent.

The test does seem to work. It said that my accent ” is as Philadelphia as a cheesesteak” I thought that with all the moving around I had lost the accent.
